In 2004, NAVASA launchedthe Dan Than Corps, the first of its kind, to prepare a new generation of nonprofit leaders. The Corps enages young Americans across the U.S. to serve their communities, at the same time deepening their understanding of the challenges facing Vietnamese American communities, developing nonprofit management and leadership skills and knowledge, and building a national movement for community change. In addition to promoting a spirit of service and activism among young Vietnamese Americans, the Corps also recruits community members of all ages and non-Vietnamese American members to meet the multitude of service gaps. Dan Than members are placed with Vietnamese-led community-based organizations that serve as host sites.
