Tacoma Girls Rock

Mission: Tacoma Girls Rock Camp is a youth music education program dedicated to empowering girl-identified Pierce county youth and fostering a music community around performance and learning.

Accomplishments: Founded in January of 2017, we have worked to design a summer music camp program and have successfully just concluded our first camp in partnership with the YMCA and Hilltop Scholars. While our campers didn’t have the opportunity to perform for the community, they did record an original song they wrote in collaboration with each other: https://tacomagirlsrock.bandcamp.com/

Future: We are excited to continue more intensive programming within the summer camp model and hope to partner with other youth organization to offer more opportunities and diversity for programming. We hope to eventually have a physical space where we can offer year-round music lessons, band spaces, youth programming and a learning environment for all ages. We also hope to eventually organize a girl-centric music festival for the Pierce County region.
