University of New Hampshire (UNH)

UNH is located in Durham, NH within minutes of Maine and New Hampshire seacoasts and within an hour of New Hampshire's White Mountains, capital, and largest urban communities. It is within an hour of Boston MA and Portland ME, both of which may be reached by passenger rail service. UNH is the principal undergraduate, graduate, and research component of the University System of New Hampshire. The University is committed to providing undergraduate and graduate programs of distinction and is dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning. As the only comprehensive public research doctoral-granting institution in the state of New Hampshire, the University carries land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant charters. Founded in 1866, as part of Dartmouth College, UNH moved to its present campus in 1893 and in 1923 was granted a new charter as the University of New Hampshire. The University is home to seven schools and colleges: the College of Liberal Arts, College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, School of Health and Human Services, Graduate School, Whittemore School of Business and Economics, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and UNH at Manchester. The University is home to over 13,000 undergraduate students, 2,400 graduate students, and 630 tenure/tenure track faculty and 2000 staff members.
