In 2017, Shule began working with street-connected boys in Uganda. We conduct outreaches, run a drop-in-center, have a halfway home & a 20-acre farm. Our rehabilitation program is designed to break the cycle of street life.
- Outreaches we connect with the boys, identify new arrivals, provide medical care & invite kids to our drop-in-center.
- Drop-In-Center - homeless boys come for food, medical care, counseling, clothing, skills training, a shower & to wash their clothes. The boys play soccer & chess. We offer different classes to prepare boys to enter society successfully:
- Dance, music, arts & crafts lessons for self-expression & helps with rehabilitation.
- English & math classes prepare the boys to enter the workforce or operate their own businesses.
- Computer lessons open up a whole world of opportunities and the potential to secure well-paying jobs.
- Halfway Home here, the boys prepare for reunification with their families. In addition to the other activities, the boys commit to living full-time here.
