Foster Grandparent Program of Greater Waterbury & the Central Naugatuck Valley

  • Missão

The mission of New Opportunities, Inc. is to improve the quality of life for economically disadvantaged individuals by providing the necessary resources to increase their standard of living, foster self-improvement, and maximize self-empowerment. Sponsored locally by New Opportunities, Inc., the Foster Grandparent Program is a federally-funded program through AmeriCorps Seniors.

    Sobre Nós

The Foster Grandparent Program activities are focused primarily in the City of Waterbury and the Central Naugatuck Valley in the communities where program volunteers reside and where the greatest need exists for their services.

Foster Grandparents are volunteers age 55 or older with limited income. Foster Grandparents provide supportive services to children with special physical, mental, or emotional needs through tutoring, reading, helping with a craft, assisting with a meal, acting as a role model, and more in a classroom or child-centered program.

If you do not qualify under the income guidelines, currently $12,880 for a one-person household, please consider volunteering with a local RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) which has several child-centered programs without the qualifying income limit for volunteers.
