Sobre Nós

Association for Adults with Developmental Disabilities (AADD), founded in 1973, is an organization which offers developmentally disabled adults, eighteen years of age and older, professionally-directed services to enhance social and behavioral skills in community settings. AADD was formed because parents of children with developmental disabilities could not find a support system to guide their children to build independent lives after graduation from high school. Developmental disabilities that affect our members include autism, Down syndrome, Asperger's syndrome, learning disabilities and other disorders. The mission of AADD is to nurture greater independence, positive work habits, and enhanced personal relationships for its members, while supporting caregivers and educating the community. With support, many of our members can transition to independent lives, obtain employment, live in their own apartments or in supervised group homes, and have their own lives. AADD seeks to create public awareness and acceptance of the issues confronting our members with the goal to maximize members' abilities to live as full and independent lives as possible within their community. Currently, AADD provides services to over 180 members and over 250 caregivers and parents of members in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburban counties.
