Organización Wayuu Munsurat - ORJUWAT

We are a group of indigenous Wayuu women and youth that formed the group after the April 2004 paramilitary massacre and dispalcement of the community of Bahia Portete. We are struggling through the judicial and logistical process of compensation and just and dignified return for the displaced. We also are trying to facilitate media skills building amongst urban indigenous youth and bring light to issues of needed economic/environmental justice to la Guajira. --------------------------------------------------- Somos un grupo de mujeres y jóvenes indígenas Wayuu que formamos el grupo después de la masacre y desplazamiento de la comunidad de Bahía Portete por paramilitares en abril de 2004. Estamos luchando por los procesos jurídicos y logísticos de un retorno justo y digno. También estamos tratando de facilitar la capacitación en medios de comunicación para la juventud indígena urbana y hacer conocer las problemáticas de contaminación del medio ambiente y corrupción económica en La Guajira.
