Sobre Nós

The Pew Center for Civic Journalism nourishes newsroom initiatives to create new models of news coverage that help to re-engage citizens in problems and issues in their community. The Center works with journalists interested in producing news that citizens need to be educated about current events, to make civic decisions and generally to exercise their responsibilities in a self-governing society.

The Center provides seed funding for news experiments at print and electronic news organizations, spotlights successful new practices, produces training resources for newsrooms and classrooms and runs national workshops for journalists. The Center was created in 1993 by The Pew Charitable Trusts.

If you are looking for information on the Pew Center for Civic Journalism also be sure to check into the J-Lab: The Institute for Interactive Journalism as they maintain a database of community and citizen news sites and hyperlocal news initiatives.
