The University of Akron, Civic Engagement Programs

Under The Univeristy of Akron, Department of Student Life, Civic Engagement Programs' mission statement is: to encourage civic engagement through campus and community partnerships that enhances the collegiate experience. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that will aid student success and retention through participation in service, volunteerism, and leadership development opportunities. To fulfill this mission, Civic Engagement Program's strives to create programs for students, faculty, and staff surrounding volunteer services that highlights different social justice issues. Civic Engagement Programs also strives to meet the needs of our agencies. This is made possible through the many relationships that we form throughout our service events as well as helping area Akron agencies to advertise and market any volunteer opportunitiy available. Our hope is to continually meet the needs of our Akron home and community and we are grateful for the opportunities to work with the many students and community members that we have the priviledge of meeting.
