Creating Conscious Communities with People Outside (C(3)PO)/Right To Dream Too (R2DToo)

Creating Conscious Communities with People Outside (C3PO) is an adhoc coalition of community organizations, with City support, created to provide sanitary shelter during the pandemic for populations which are systematically excluded from shelters & most vulnerable to COVID. This project is inspired by the Village Model for shelter, created by Dignity Village in 2000, which is collectively self governed and operated by shelter participants. The Village Model was originally inspired by the Homeless Unions movement of the ‘70s/‘80s. Our model is a hybrid which incorporates support from paid staff, with the eventual goal of becoming a true village.
