  • Sobre Nós

The Zine Archive and Publishing Project (ZAPP) is a volunteer-driven community archive that promotes self-publishing, fosters new creative works and preserves a “living collection” of over 30,000 zines. ZAPP has been deemed the world’s largest uncensored collection of what some consider to be a form of current folk art, making it a unique and valuable cultural resource. We serve diverse populations of age, economic, gender, cultural and regional backgrounds.

After 15 years of being a program of Richard Hugo House, we are in the process of finding a new location and becoming an independent organization. We are currently fiscally sponsored by Shunpike.

ZAPP’s purpose is three-fold. 1) We strive to preserve the archive by continually updating our online catalog and following best practices of archival standards for the zine collection. 2) We encourage zine production by teaching workshops, providing a space and limited materials for patrons to create, and hosting regular public hours to give access to the collection. 3) We showcase the archive through educational events, exhibits, presentations and by supporting academic research.
