Louisville, KY

Sobre Nós

Are you looking for a unique volunteer opportunity? The YMCA's Newcomer Academy Program is an after school academic and sports program for middle and high school students attending the ESL Newcomer Academy. A program of the Downtown Family YMCA, our primary focus is to create a welcoming, educational environment for immigrant and refugee children new to the United States. The after school program is five days a week, starting at 2:30 PM and ending at 5:00 PM. The program will start in September.

Volunteer tutors are needed primarily in the areas of math, reading and English. No teaching experience is required, just a passion for education and interest in working with people from different cultures. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to help with activities including: art, science activities, and sports.
