Mongolian Quilting Center is an Ulaanbaatar-based NGO supporting women financially and socially, by teaching them quilting and other handicraft skills and selling their creations, ranging from small-sized souvenirs to elaborate silk wall-hangings to felt animals, at its own shop and other outlets. Established in 2004, MQC has trained over 3,000 vulnerable people in the society including single mothers and people with disabilities, in collaboration with the local Labor and Welfare Office and supported by contributions from international organizations. Our products are designed locally with inspiration from Mongolian traditional motifs and landscape, and we focus on eco-friendly production by using silk and other fabric remnants from clothing industry where possible, and promoting the idea of upcycling in Mongolia.
