  • Missão

FAiR Criminal Court Watch aims to ensure that the Harris County criminal justice system operates with full respect for all aspects of the right to a fair trial. It does this by engaging non-lawyer, volunteer court monitors to observe trials, report on what they see, and make recommendations for improvements. FAiR also works to educate the public on fair trial rights and criminal justice issues through trainings, workshops, and the publication of court monitoring reports. Trial monitoring focuses on procedural issues. Monitors do not report on substantive justice nor the merits of the cases monitored. Monitors do not attempt to evaluate the evidence or otherwise engage in balancing the various considerations that arise in the course of the trial. Monitors focus on the FAiRness of the process.
