Sobre Nós

The Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation (PHRF) mission is to educate people on the atrocities of the past, while working toward a future of tolerance and enlightenment.

PHRF was created in 2004 to enhance and reactivate the site around the original Six Million Jewish Martyrs Monument in Center City Philadelphia into the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza. The new Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza in Philadelphia is the site of the nation’s first public monument erected to memorialize victims of the Holocaust. Now open to the public, the Memorial Plaza is a dynamic civic space for remembrance and education. It is open 365 days a year and is free to visit. The Memorial Plaza includes interpretive features that help visitors to learn about, reflect upon, and remember the Holocaust, and is complemented by the IWalk educational app. IWalk is a pioneering mobile app that guides visitors through the Memorial Plaza using personal testimonials from Holocaust survivors and witnesses. As visitors approach specific features of the Plaza, IWalk presents content specific to these features and customizes it to each visitor’s age, language preference, and learning objectives.
