Beyond the Surface International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working in solidarity with small-scale fishing villages to build social-ecological resilience through surfing, storytelling, and mindfulness workshops that engage youth and their families to be courageous agents of positive change for their sustainable futures.
Our mission is to strengthen the reactivity of remote or marginalized artisanal fishing communities to internal and external pressures to ensure their resiliency, starting with the young people. Our goal is to enable youth growing up in vulnerable coastal communities with the aptitude to ascend as the key stakeholders and skilled advocates for their community's wellbeing and region's biodiversity for local to global transformations.
