Southern Oregon Historical Society

Founded in 1946, the Southern Oregon Historical Society’s mission is to make history come alive by collecting, preserving and sharing the artifacts and stories of our common heritage. SOHS manages an extensive collection of approximately 1 million 3-dimensional artifacts, 100,000 photographs, manuscripts and related media, operates an acclaimed research library, develops educational exhibits and conducts heritage and community focused programs at Hanley Farm, a 157 year-old farmstead between Central Point and Jacksonville. SOHS’s programs and exhibits are lively, honest and inclusive of the diverse individuals and communities that comprise Southern Oregon’s past and present. SOHS is serious and dependable in matters of historical truth and institutional responsibility. SOHS’s public programs demonstrate that history can be enjoyable and enriching for everyone.
