Who We Are

W.H. Eddings Special Needs Training, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are a network of individuals, groups, and organization members who work to improve the lives of those with special needs and other disadvantaged populations by providing support services, education, training and advocacy resources. We believe that disabilities and disadvantages are only differences that deserve attention and dedicated development. Every person should be celebrated for who they are and everyone should receive the support they need to grow and develop.

Our organization was established in 2009 as an informal network of individuals and parents with special needs children, who shared a deep interest in community-based training. Founder Elyce Eddings named the organization in honor of her father, W.H. Eddings. Since our launch, W.H. Eddings Special Needs Training has grown and expanded its reach. Our membership has expanded to include all types of underserved and disadvantaged populations.

What We Do

W.H. Eddings Special Needs Training works to improve the lives of those with special needs and other disadvantaged populations by providing support services, education, training, and advocacy resources. We operate programs for children and adults with disabilities, and we partner with groups that serve diverse disadvantaged populations. We believe in being inclusive rather than exclusive in our approach to serving the community.

Our Services Through our Purple Goose Kids program, we support children with special needs to lead active, happy, fulfilled lives. We equip their parents, families, educators and the community, to respond to the children's needs, helping them to grow and develop to their full potential. We wage campaigns to improve education options, offer training for educators and community members, and mobilize others to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups.
