Schuylkill River Heritage Area: Schuylkill River Greenway Association

The Schuylkill River Heritage Area is dedicated to assisting communities, organizations and citizens of the Schuylkill River region to preserve and sustain their cultural heritage and natural environment for future generations.

The Schuylkill River National and State Heritage Area works with partners to manage and expand the Schuylkill River Trail in Montgomery, Chester, Schuylkill, Berks, and Philadelphia Counties. The Heritage Area is significant for the roles it played in the American, Industrial and Environmental Revolutions.

The Schuylkill River Greenway Association, is the managing nonprofit organization for the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Our office, is located in Pottstown, PA, just off of the trail and has six permanent employees.

We monitor 30 miles of the Schuylkill River Trail. There are currently 60 miles of completed trail, owned and maintained by various partners. The end goal is to have 130 miles of trail that stretches from the Schuylkill River headwaters in Schuylkill County all the way down to the mouth of the river in Philadelphia. In order to grow and maintain the trail we depend on our Trail Ambassadors to monitor and promote this valuable national resource.
