Sobre Nós

Founded in 2010, the Hawai'i Coalition for Immigrant Rights (HCIR) is a unified effort of over seventy faith leaders, attorneys, academics, NGOs, and community members who provide systemic advocacy to improve the daily lives of immigrants in Hawai'i. As the immigration arm of Faith Action for Community Equity, we are the only 501 (c)(3)  non-profit organization in Hawai'i that works to craft, and build mainstream support for, better policies and laws that advance the position of immigrants in local life. Our primary goal is to ensure equal opportunities for immigrants and newcomers to Hawai'i. We have successfully worked to ensure tuition equity for undocumented students within the University of Hawai'i system, language access for driver's license examinations, and driver's licenses for all residents, regardless of immigration status. We seek to center the voices of uniquely vulnerable immigrants within a locally structured immigrant rights campaign.
