The Porter School of Environmental Studies

Founded at the end of the year 2000, the Porter School of Environmental Studies (PSES) is the first and only multidisciplinary graduate school dedicated to the research, teaching and dissemination of environmental studies in Israel. PSES offers three degree programs: PhD; MA/MSc thesis track (taught in Hebrew); MA non-thesis track (taught in English).The school was established as a direct response to the pressing need for greater academic knowledge in Israel on environmental issues. It promotes new areas of interdisciplinary environmental research, introduces novel environmental teaching programs and places environmental issues on the academic and public agenda.PSES integrates research with policy and community projects to translate its academic work into practical applications. It works with all sectors, including government, business, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) both in Israel and abroad.The structure of the school reflects the multidisciplinary nature of environmental problems and solutions. It is independent of the various faculties of the university and works in collaboration with each faculty to deliver environmental teaching and research in different fields.
