The agency operates SYEP Work Readiness Training during the months of April and May for 10 hours for younger (YY), and school-based youth, and 15 hours for older youth (OY) with a maximum of 25 participants per classroom. Specific content, dates, time, and duration of trainings are determined in collaboration with the partnership school. Workshops focus on the development of employment skills needed to succeed in the labor market at all levels and sectors as follows: Applied Knowledge; Effective Relationships; and Workplace Skills. An agency staff plan for SYEP and year-round work readiness activities is already in place based on the agency's experience throughout its numerous years of operation. The plan establishes protocols for finding and developing work sites; placing youth in appropriate job sites; and monitoring, coordinating, and communicating with work sites and employer representatives.
