Founded in 1977, Spaulding for Children is a non-profit agency dedicated to building and sustaining strong nurturing families for children who have endured abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The agency offers three main services: identifying foster-care families for children who have been removed from their birth families; finding permanent, adoptive homes for these children; and providing on-going education and support following a child's adoption. Since its founding, the agency has placed more than 2,000 children in adoptive homes. Having something soft and warm to hold, such as a stuffed animal, can ease a traumatized child's mind when he or she becomes a foster or adopted child.
