Sobre Nós

CROP is an acronym for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. The Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk takes place each fall as a part of a nation-wide endeavor to raise money to alleviate hunger and poverty in this country and overseas. The concept is simple: We walk because they walk. Since the first walk in Charlotte in 1978, Charlotte has hosted the largest CROP walk in the United States, raising over $6 million to relieve hunger. 25% of the funds raised each year stay in Charlotte and are directed to local agencies: Loaves & Fishes, Crisis Assistance Ministry, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. The balance of the money goes overseas through Church World Service to relieve the tragic results of catastrophic events such as earthquakes, flooding, and famine. In addition to the disaster relief provided by CWS, the agency also provides sustainable development and education in developing countries.
