Community Knights, Inc

Community Knights was created to address the deep budget cuts that hit our public schools in 2008 after the financial crisis. It is our mission to support the Public School and Non-Profit Community on the Virginia Peninsula and address this crisis through innovative programs at the grassroots level that engage individuals to work together collaboratively to invest in our community. Our programs are designed to not only increase financial investment, but also create an environment where people break free of the silos they normally build relationships in and work side by side with individuals from all over the Peninsula. These new connections create an amazing synergy that allows magic to happen and makes our community much more inclusive. Our first program, The GIFT Program (Grant Initiative Fundraising Team) has brought members of the community together to volunteer in our bi-weekly bingo fundraiser and have generated $968,000 to fund 468 grants to 124 unique local public school & non-profit organizations that serve the citizens of the Virginia Peninsula in 5 years. We will be launching our COACH Program (Creating Opportunities to Advance Capable Hands) in 2018 which will increase the size and capacity of our community's volunteer pool and make the Peninsula a more inclusive place to live and work.
