The goals of the University are to advance excellence in teaching and research, find solutions to national problems, help conserve the environment and natural resources, and to promote the application of science and technology. The University is open to all Guatemalans, regardless of sex, ethnic background, or economic status. The mission of the Unversity is to educate the teachers, engineers, scientists and problem-solvers that Guatemala needs to build a prosperous and peaceful society for all of its people.
