To educate, develop, and empower the next generation of leaders of liberty.
Students For Liberty (SFL) is the world’s largest international pro-liberty student organization, founded in 2008 with the goal of educating, developing, and empowering the next generation of leaders committed to individual liberty, free markets, and limited government. It began as a small gathering of students seeking connection and support for libertarian ideas and has since grown into a global movement active in over 100 countries.
SFL’s core mission is to introduce students to the principles of a free society, including individual rights, voluntary exchange, and limited government. The organization develops student leaders through extensive training and mentorship and empowers them with the tools, networks, and opportunities to make a real impact.
The organization takes a big tent approach, embracing a wide range of classical liberal and libertarian philosophies. It places strong emphasis on academic, economic, and individual freedom, encouraging open discourse and critical thinking.
Among its key programs is the Local Coordinator Program, which trains students to lead events and campaigns on their campuses. SFL also runs Learn Liberty, an online educational platform that explores classical liberal ideas through accessible video content. Its annual international conference, LibertyCon, is a major gathering for liberty-minded students and thinkers. The Alumni For Liberty network ensures that graduates stay engaged and support the movement. SFL also pioneers thematic initiatives like Green Liberty, promoting free-market approaches to environmental challenges.
