Sonflora Nicaragua

Sonflora is dedicated to providing help and support to about 80 children from the villages of Poneloya and Tamarindo near the city of León. They often have a background of domestic violence and poverty. The theme of the project is to give them time and a place to be child. The project aims on changing the circle of violence. We believe that education is an integral aspect of reducing poverty on the one hand, and encountering violence on the other hand.

Our project also concerns multi-disciplinary care for children affected by violence, providing them with psychological and social care, and with legal assistance when needed. During the time the children spend in the project, we get to know them very well. Whenever we realize that the child is a victim of domestic violence, we can act immediately. The support does not only involve the children themselves but also integrates their social environment, especially their family.
