Project Northstar

Sobre Nós

Project Northstar is a one-on-one tutoring and mentoring program for low-income children in grades K-12 living in the Washington, DC area. Volunteers are matched with their own student, who they work with for the duration of the school year by participating in weekly tutoring sessions and monthly mentoring activities. Tutoring sessions take place every Tuesday and Wednesday night from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at the Josephine Butler Parks Center (volunteers can pick which day they commit to, or come to both!). During this time the student- tutor pairs work on homework as well as supplemental educational materials provided by Northstar. In addition to tutoring sessions, volunteers and their student participate in a monthly mentoring activity on their own.

Please contact us if you have any questions, or would like any additional information on how you can make a difference in the life of a child in need (jtownsend@mppi.org or 202-340-6438).
