BRIDGE - Shanshui projects - ASO Togo

Our mission is to create a living bridge between art, ecology, and community through the reforestation of degraded land in Togo, in collaboration with Chinese and international artists.

By planting trees and fostering artistic exchange, we aim to build a self-sustaining ecological and cultural community where environmental care and creative practice coexist.

The project promotes:

• Ecological restoration through the planting of 1,000 trees and sustainable agroforestry practices.
• Cultural exchange between Togolese and international artists via residencies, workshops, and collaborative art projects.
• Community empowerment, offering education, employment, and shared creative experiences to local residents.
• Sustainable development, where art becomes a tool for social change and ecological balance.

In the long term, the project seeks to expand the reforested area and establish a permanent art residency that welcomes people from all over the world to live, create, and grow together with the local community.

We are a collective of artists, ecologists, and cultural organizations working between China, Togo, and Europe, united by the belief that art and ecology can grow together to create new models of sustainable living.

Our initiative, supported by Aso Togo, Shanshui Projects, and the Contemporary Art Center of the College of Fine Arts at Huaqiao University (China), connects environmental action with artistic creation and social engagement.

We serve local communities in Togo, helping them restore land through tree planting and agroforestry, while providing education and employment opportunities through art-based and ecological activities.

At the same time, we connect these communities with artists, researchers, and volunteers from around the world, encouraging collaboration, knowledge exchange, and mutual learning.
