About SolarAid

SolarAid is a charity which has an ambitious goal to eradicate the kerosene lamp from Africa by 2020. We own a social enterprise, SunnyMoney, which sells solar lights at a fair market price in rural areas of Africa. Each solar light helps families make savings, increases study time for children and improves health, by displacing the use of kerosene lamps and averting a tonne of CO2 emissions. To date we have sold over 1.7 million solar lights in Africa, helping create demand and build a sustainable market which spreads quicker and is more cost effective than hand-outs of aid.
