BBBS of the Capital Region [PA]currently serves over 1,200 children throughout our four-county service area of Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon and Perry counties.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the nation's preeminent youth-service organization for 100 years. Our service is based on our volunteers. We have proven success in creating and nurturing positive relationships that benefit everyone involved, including the volunteer, the child, families, and our community.

It's all about relationships...and we understand the power of mentors spending one-to-one time with a child. One of our strongest assets is the ability to establish and support good match relationships between adults and children. We have seen that volunteers' friendship, combined with ongoing staff support (whether that be finding new match activity ideas or having a question answered), results in many positive outcomes in children.

Our Children...are between the ages of 7-16, often from single-parent homes, and can be referred to the program in a number of ways, including being referred by their parents/guardians, guidance counselors and teachers. And, many children specifically ask their parents to find them a Big Brother or Sister. Because they request to be involved with BBBS, the children and parents are volunteers too.
