Climate Institute

Formed in 1986, the Climate Institute was the first international environmental organization focused on climate change. It has been active in over 30 nations, most in the developing world. Its principal activities today include: 1)catalyzing an Endangered Islands Campaign enabling island states to de-carbonize their energy systems and develop anticipatory coastal protection and storm preparedness measures 2) working with its Mexican partner group, SIMA, to establish the world's highest altitude CO2 observatory in the State of Veracruz 3) working with the State of Veracruz to enable it to become a model for climate protection and 4) organizing a campaign to focus attention of the American public on climate change already underway and potentially accelerating and to move the US to a leadership position in addressing climate change.
