About Housing and Climate Justice for Acton:

Housing & Climate Justice for Acton supports apartment and condo residents in creating solutions to the housing emergency and climate emergency by offering bold advocacy, tools, resources and models.

We prioritize solving residents’ problems and mobilizing for change. When as few as two or three of us gather, our voices can be heard, and when more of us gather, positive, just, and transformative change takes place.

In the last year and a half, we have:

• Gotten the Town of Acton to create a renter hotline, launch a Human Services Committee, and allocate $30,000 to a pilot housing stabilization services program
• Presented a research report to Acton’s Select Board on the issues that renters in Acton face
• Developed a climate action policy platform that resulted in 7 proposals being added to Acton’s Climate Action Plan
• Brought 52 Acton residents to Town Meeting where we passed an EV Charging for All item
• Helped residents file recycling complaints at 8 apartment complexes, leading the Town to propose new recycling regulations that will guarantee recycling access for apartment and condo buildings
• Supported renters committees in organizing at several Acton buildings
• Mobilized members to attend numerous Select Board meetings, held Stand Outs and organized marches
• And brought together more than 100 Acton residents who’ve decided to have a collective voice in their community.
