To bring about the sustained regeneration, improvement, and management of the physical environement by developing community based partnerships, which empower people, businesses and organizations to promote environmental, economic and social well being.

Groundwork Lawrence was initiated in February 1999 to be a catalyst for the improvement of parks, open space and river ways in the City of Lawrence. Groundwork works to encourage a broad vision, bring together diverse stakeholders and build sustainable improvements that advance the community's quality of life. Groudwork provides full service planning and development scope including technical assistance in planning and design, community organizing, contract and maintenance programming and stewdarship development.
