Philly Youth Poetry Movement (PYPM)

The Philly Youth Poetry Movement (PYPM) is the three time international youth slam poetry champions. A wellness driven program, PYPM leverages poetry and community to provide a safe space for Philadelphia’s marginalized youth to discover the power of their voices. In its first ten years, PYPM found its voice by offering weekly writing and wellness workshops that allow our young people to channel their emotions and experiences into creative expression and advocacy.  PYPM’s slam league is the country’s only city-wide program, reaching over 1,000 young people, offering healthy outlets and spaces for fun and community.

In the next ten, PYPM will activate its voice, led by Philadelphia’s young people. In January 2017, PYPM launched the first Youth Advisory Council, starting the next phase of youth driven leadership in the City.  Along with doubling the size of the slam league, frequency of weekly workshops and wellness programs, PYPM will ensure that the youth voice has a noticeable impact on neighborhoods and communities they call home.
