World Water Day PDX

In order to celebrate World Water Day on March 22, 2009, the Portland Roasting Coffee Company has teamed up with the students of the senior capstone: Ending Global Poverty at Portland State University and Water for All, a non-profit organization, in order to raise money for water pumps in Ethiopia. On March 22nd a 5K walk-a-thon will be held at the World Trade Center Plaza (located at 25 SW Salmon Street) in downtown Portland, Oregon starting at 1:00pm

Walker registration fees, combined with local sponsor donations, will go toward the goal of raising $14,000 needed to build a water pump in Yirgacheffe, where water is a vital element in the production of coffee, Ethiopia’s chief export commodity.
