Sunflower House

Child abuse is in epic proportions in the United States with one in every four girls and one in every six boys being sexually abused by the age of 18.

Sunflower House is a child-abuse prevention center located in Shawnee, KS that is dedicated to responding to allegations of child abuse in effective and efficient ways that put the needs of the child victims first.

Following an allegation of child abuse in our area, law enforcement and child-protective services refer children to Sunflower House to tell their story.

At Sunflower House, forensic interviews, medical evaluations, therapy and advocacy are offered to each child and their families. A designated Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) by the National Children’s Alliance, Sunflower House also provides proactive educational programs throughout the community in such areas as personal safety, Internet safety and the “P.S. It’s My Body!” curriculum.

It provides professional training in such areas as Mandated Reporter Training, Abusive Head Trauma Prevention, Parent/Caregiver/Caring Adult Education, Keeping Kids Safe Online and Stewards of Children.
