In today’s highly competitive job market, employers expect graduates to be knowledgeable in their field, ready to solve problems, demonstrate emotional intelligence and intercultural competence and be ready to work effectively in teams. Africa in particular needs a human capital with practical knowledge and 21st century marketable skills that young graduates should leverage not just to achieve their career aspirations but most importantly to create value in the continent’s economic system. Unfortunately, there is currently a big gap between what the higher education offers and what companies and organizations in the employment marketplace needs for their growth.

T he Ajira Academy therefore exists to develop a new generation of young professionals who are not only knowledgeable in their field of study but also ready to innovatively solve problems in their workplace. Our year-long signature program is therefore preparing young graduates for the job market and also packaging them for successful careers of impact. This one of its kind hands-on career preparation program aims to compliment university education by equipping young graduates with employability, career readiness skills and professional experience that gives them a competitive edge in the job market.
