LEGAL COUNSEL FOR YOUTH AND CHILDREN

LCYC accomplishes our mission through direct legal representation, strong community partnerships, and systemic advocacy. Our core values are: youth agency and power, anti-racism, equity, community, and innovation.

LCYC’s founders envisioned an organization that supports and empowers youth by providing them with holistic legal advocacy. We work with youth and community partners to identify and address each youth’s unique legal and non-legal needs through a holistic, trauma informed, youth-centered approach. These same partnerships are critical for our systemic advocacy.

LCYC serves roughly 500 young people across Washington State on an annual basis through four core programs: child welfare, juvenile court, youth and family immigration, and youth homelessness. The majority of youth served by LCYC are between 12 - 24 years in age. Due to historic exclusion and other forms of oppression, young people of color and LGBTQ+ young people are overrepresented in the systems we work and among the youth we serve.
