AIDSfreeAFRICA empowers people in Africa to produce their own essential drugs, antiretrovirals and diagnostic reagents. AIDSfreeAFRICA provides training, equipment and seed money for African companies to begin to produce necessary pharmaceuticals. AIDSfreeAFRICA believes that health and access to healthcare is paramount to achieving global peace.

We have successfully collaborated with three Cameroonian companies to begin production of drugs. These drugs will be sold at reduced prices and will be for those illnesses that result from a HIV/AIDS infection such as tuberculosis.

We have big goals for this year like advancing our three start-up collaborations in Cameroon towards solid drug production, increasing collaborations with European companies like Tibotec (specifically with help producing Miconazole), and conducting research to expand into other Sub-Saharan countries, such as Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda and Rwanda.

Last year, we were selected as one of the 2009 recipients of the American Chemical Society/ Astellas USA Foundation award for individuals or teams who exemplify the criterion of having significantly contributed to scientific research that improved public health through their contributions in the chemical and related sciences.
