The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) is a publicly supported, nonprofit organization that promotes international understanding through educational and cultural exchange between the United States and Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The ASF has an extensive program of fellowships, grants, trainee placement, publishing, membership offerings, and cultural activities. Headquartered in New York City, the ASF has associate members and subscribers worldwide, and more than 26,000 Americans and Scandinavians have participated in its exchange programs. In 2000, The American-Scandinavian Foundation established Scandinavia House: The Nordic Center in America, a cultural center in New York City. Facilities at Scandinavia House include galleries, an auditorium, a children’s center, a library, meeting rooms, a café and a shop, as well as the offices of The American-Scandinavian Foundation.
