    The Mission of the Funk Heritage Center is tell the story of the early Appalachian Settlers and Southeastern Indians through educational programming and the collection, care and exhibition of art and artifacts.

    Sobre Nós

    The Funk Heritage Center is part of Reinhardt University and operated by three full-time staff members, one part-time staff member, student workers, and volunteers. The F. James and Florrie G. Funk Heritage Center opened in 1999. The Georgia Legislature proclaimed the Funk Heritage Center as Georgia's Official Frontier and Southeastern Indian Interpretive Center and was signed by Governor Sonny Perdue in 2004. The Center includes the John H. Bennett Sr. and Ethel C. Bennett History Museum, a historic Appalachian Settlement and the Lou Reeta Barton Northcutt Walking Trail and Native Garden.

    Volunteers include Docents, Living History, Library Assistant, Gardeners, Receptionist, Summer Camp Assistants and Special Event Guides. Some of the Living History Volunteers are Blacksmiths, Woodworkers, Musicians, Spinners and Gardeners. The Center conducts school museum tours, adult group tours and lectures.
