New Jersey Highlands Coalition

The New Jersey Highlands Coalition is the only non-profit organization whose entire focus is on protecting the aquifers, forests, farmlands, wildlife, historic resources and diverse recreational opportunities found in the New Jersey Highlands, the State’s prized piece of the Appalachian Mountain chain. We are made up of many member organizations, small and large, local, regional, statewide and nationa as well as hundreds of individual members who have joined together to safeguard and defend this critical area. Founded in 2005, the Coalition was incorporated in 2006, and received its 501(c)(3) status in 2007. Our most pressing need is to preserve the quality and quantity of Highlands drinking water that 5.4 million people, 64% of the State’s population, and a majority of its economy,depend on.
