Salvation Wild Mustang Sanctuary

Salvation Wild Mustang Sanctuary is a 501c3 that cares about Wild Mustangs and Burros quality of life. We save Wild Mustangs and Burros that have been rounded up from their homes on public land by the Bureau of Land Management. Many of these horses and burros are ending up at auctions or in kill pens. If the price demanded to save them is not paid the majority will ship to Mexico or Canada for slaughter. With the help of donors, adopters and caring individuals we have saved, or helped save over 500 wild or trained Mustangs and several burros from kill pens, and auctions. 

We are in need of volunteers to help with the horses and burros in Meeker, Oklahoma. We also are looking for new board members and corporate sponsors to expand our team. The Bureau of Land Management plans on rounding up nearly 21,000 wild horses and burros with over 19,000 permanently removed by September 2024. There is a urgent need to expand our sanctuary and secure safe locations for many of the ones that will be at risk of being sent to the slaughter pipeline. We have already lost many of our American Icons due to direct shipping to slaughter, lack of funds and not enough homes, sanctuaries or fosters.

We combined effects with RJF Equine and each of us purchased 20 acres in Meeker. Oklahoma. There is a lot of fencing that still needs done to secure the wild horses and burros. We also need a barn built, shelter for saved pregnant horses and burros, and container for hay storage. We currently care for over 80 mustangs and several burros, that are housed at our sanctuary, foster care in Oklahoma and boarding ranch in Kansas.

Our plan for this sanctuary and others is to create a self sustaining facility that rescues, rehabs, and re-homes those that are able and provides sanctuary for those who are not. The sanctuary/ranch would offer camping, tours, educational clinics and events.

We have successfully adopted, placed in sanctuaries, or rescues over 400 wild horses and burros since 2019. We look forward to all the updates in their new placement.
