Be A Mentor Des Moines

Did you know that you can change the life of a child with only a few hours a month? The Be A Mentor Campaign is a partnership between mentor programs throughout Des Moines. With 1 in 3 kids growing up without a mentor, we streamline communications of 7 state-certified nonprofit organizations to raise awareness of the benefits of mentoring and mentoring opportunities in Central Iowa. In 2014, mentors in Central Iowa positively impacted 1,402 youth. 

These numbers mean that students are developing healthy relationships with adults, which significantly increases the likelihood of high school graduation. Mentees are also 90% more likely to become mentors in the future. One of the most beneficial parts of mentor service is that it not only changes the youth’s life, but mentors have reported that their own lives were changed by their relationship with their mentee.
