Vine Maple Place is a Christian organization that breaks the generational cycle of homelessness by working with single parents and their children. Our approach offers safety, provides stability, and equips to self-sufficiency.
The vision of Vine Maple Place is to end family homelessness in South King County, resulting in healthier communities where every child and parent has a stable home to grow and thrive.
We’re Hiring Interns: Follow Your Vision and Call
Develop your professional skills while helping families heal, restore and transform. Each intern works under the supervision and care of experienced leadership in a mentorship role. While working at Vine Maple Place, interns learn through hands on experience in positions that matter and complete a lasting legacy project that impacts the organization long after the internship ends. Interns gain experience in social services, increasing professional toolkit to include Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Care, Social Emotional Learning, Conscious Discipline, Leadership Skills and more.
Internships are offered in all four main program areas:
Housing Stability - The first step toward being safe is stable housing. VMP works directly with parents experiencing a housing crisis, providing emergency housing, rapid re-housing and eviction prevention services. Financial assistance and referral to resources are provided as the family builds their support network and resiliency, critical to housing stability.
Behavioral Health, Life Skills & Counseling - To heal past trauma, parents and children are provided on-site individual and family counseling, substance abuse assessment, weekly engagement in classes, and age-appropriate social groups to develop life skills, nurture family bonds and increase self-esteem.
Adult Training and Education - A critical step to stability is a livable-wage job and financial management skills. Workforce development includes job readiness workshops, job search, and career coaching to help single parents prepare for, obtain and retain a livable-wage job. To address financial barriers, workshops and one-on-one training addresses credit score, debt/expense reduction and budgeting to help parents build skills and create realistic household budgets.
Child & Youth Services - The trauma-informed program aims to completely change the development trajectory of the kids and youth who are served. A custom development plan is created based on each child’s unique needs and circumstances that focuses on providing them with the tools they need to heal, build coping skills, strengthen interpersonal relationships, develop positive identity and build self-esteem so they can avoid repeating the patterns that lead to homelessness as adults.
