While there has been tremendous growth globally in the culturally-driven sounds of Dancehall, Reggae, AfroBeats, Reggaeton, etc., there has been little momentum in the Canadian market in relation to exposure and opportunity for creatives within these genres.
Founded in 2019, AFROWAVETO is a non-profit Toronto-based organization birthed from the need to level the playing field and bridge the gap for African, Caribbean, and Afro-Latino artists.
With our mission to “Dream It. Build It. Grow It.” and a forward thinking approach to programming and performance showcasing, AFROWAVETO has been filling the void by not only providing a platform for Artists of Colour to showcase their work but also with intentional programming and resources to help them successfully navigate the Canadian music industry.
