  • Sobre Nós

The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD), established in 1981, is located in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego. We are a private co-educational, non-sectarian school providing education from preschool through twelfth grade.

The school embraces the Waldorf pedagogical approach used in over a thousand schools in 59 countries throughout the world, with an age-appropriate curriculum derived from the indications of the Austrian philosopher and scientist Rudolf Steiner, founder of Anthroposophy.

The school’s campuses are located in the urban setting of City Heights. The four-acre Altadena Campus is bordered by residences and a public school across the street. The school facilities include four buildings, playing fields, and a garden. Our high school, on the two-acre Colina Campus, is located just 1.2 miles from the Altadena Campus. We have a large auditorium where we hold performances and assemblies. The combined facilities support woodworking, clay modeling and sculpture, graphic arts, gardening, painting and drawing, theater production, eurythmy, choir, orchestra, band, basketball, volleyball, soccer and track.

The Waldorf School of San Diego serves the wider San Diego area with families coming as far as Carlsbad from the north, Tijuana from the south, and Alpine from the east. Parent professions are varied, representing a wide range of areas of expertise.

Our High School was founded in 2008. The student enrollment in kindergarten through twelfth grade is approximately 300 students.

The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. We are fully accredited by both the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA).
