COMMUNITY HOUSING COALITION OF MADISON COUNTY INC

The Community Housing Coalition (CHC) of Madison County, NC serves low-income individuals and families by facilitating free urgent housing repair services and affordable new housing construction. The CHC vision is to create a community in which all residents live with dignity and respect, regardless of their income, background, or circumstances through access to safe, healthy, and affordable housing options that meet their needs.

CHC reweaves the frayed fabric of its rural Appalachian community by empowering clients and engaging over 1000 volunteers annually to repair and rehabilitate homes in the Appalachian tradition of community barn-raising called Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN). CHC collaborates with over 100 traditionally underserved households annually, addressing the pressing housing need, a key determinant of health. This is critical to reducing health disparities in the community, while bringing neighbors back together and repairing much more than just their homes.
